Pregnancy Update

Well this Friday I will officially be 10 weeks along :) It is going by so fast and yet so slow at the same time because I can't wait for this baby to be here!! :) I definitely need the 9 months to prepare, though. I have my 2nd appt with the OBGYN on Tuesday. He said I will need to see him every 4 weeks. I also had to go to the endocrinologist last week because my thyroid levels came out low from my blood work. The DR said I will need to get some more blood work done (which he could have just told me over the phone instead of having to wait an hour to see him for 5 min). So I got the blood work done and I have an appt with him this Friday to get an ultrasound - no not the fun kind - of my thyroid and he will know for sure if I need medicine. I've never had a problem with my thyroid before being pregnant that I know of. The DR didn't act like it was a big deal though. Anyway, Alex and I are getting more and more excited for this baby. We haven't agreed on any names so far.. we apparently have way different tastes, but hopefully we'll be able to make a decision by the time he or she is here :) Well I guess that's the update for now. I will try to keep posting, but no guarantees.. I'm not very good at keeping up with this thing.

Easter Weekend at Grandma Dee Dee and Papa Lovelace's House

We finally decided that we would all go see my Grandma Dee Dee and Papa for Easter this year since we hardly ever get to spend holidays with them. So me and Alex (or just me) packed our bags and we headed out Saturday morning. I was able to get off work around 5 am so Alex picked me up from work and we were on our way to Woodville. I got ZERO sleep on the way there, of course. So when I got there I crashed... and so did Alex actually lol. We slept for a few hours and when we woke up, my family was there. Savannah and Aaron were already there because they came a day early. Actually funny story... Aaron was asleep when we got there and Alex crawled in the bed with him and freaked him out lol wish I would have gotten a picture. Here are the pictures I did manage to get :)

Me and Alex at the Dogwood Festival. This is a really big event around Woodville, Tx (where my grandparents live). There was carnival food, lots of people, booths, and a parade, which is what we were getting ready for in this picture. It was a lot of fun, especially with all my family there.

This is just a funny picture of Justin at the parade trying on Alex's glasses. I'm sure he couldn't see anything out of them especially since Alex's vision is like 2o/800.

Savannah and Aaron at the parade. Aren't they so cute?? :) They're perfect for eachother too! Don't worry... as you can see, my dad has keeps a close eye on them. ;)

This is called too much Easter candy!!!!!!

This is what we did a lot of time... play the Wii!! This was the first time I have played it before and it was so much fun!

I didn't know this picture was being taken... don't we look so entertained?
So this is what Savannah and Aaron did during conference and I caught it on camera for proof!

Overall, we had a GREAT Easter weekend! And I just realized that was me and Alex's first Easter together. Last year I was in Idaho at school. Well it was the best Easter we've had together! ;)

Scripture Reading

So in order to help me remember to read my scriptures every day I went to this website that emails you a chapter every day of whatever you want to read (BOM, Old Testament, New Testament, D&C, and they have some other church books). I chose the Book of Mormon since I already started reading that this year. You can actually choose if you want to finish it in 30 days, 60 days, etc., or if you just want to read one chapter a day. Of course I just chose the one chapter a day. So it sends you whatever chapter you're on to your email every day. It's pretty cool. The website is: readthescriptures.com. It's kind of different reading the scriptures from your email, but it still works. :)

Feeling Sick

So yesterday morning around 6 I was at work getting things ready for the next shift and my stomach starts hurting. It felt like I had air bubbles in my stomach but I was thinking they would just go away eventually. So I leave work and on the way home it kept coming and going and started feeling worse every time. When I get home I told Alex about how my stomach had been hurting for a while. I just tried to go to sleep but I couldn't because of the pain coming and going. So Alex decided to go get me some medicine (Gas-X lol) to see if it would help. So he comes back and I had almost fallen asleep, but I take one of the pills. I think I was sleeping for maybe two hours and I woke up again with the same pain. I think it was there the whole time I was sleeping, but I was so tired that I just slept through it. So the Gas-X was not helping at all...in fact I was feeling worse and even started feeling nauseous. Oh and Alex's mom and grandpa were on their way over to visit so I was really hoping this would go away before they got there because we were all going to go out to lunch. Alex went and got a thermometer and a sprite for me (he was so sweet :) ) and when he got back we checked my temperature, but no temp. I started drinking the sprite and then I was really feeling sick and actually threw up...then I felt better lol but the pain was still there. I asked Alex to give me a blessing because I was started to get a little scared...I had no idea what I had and my mom was thinking maybe appendicitis. I ended up throwing up two more times and the pain was just horrible. We called the doctor and they said to bring me in. So Alex's family gets to our apartment and I was actually started to feel a little bit better then. Then the nasea came back really bad. My mom came over and we decided to go to the doctor. So Alex and his grandpa gave me another blessing that the doctor would be able to figure out what was wrong. Alex went out to lunch with his family (because they had driven 3 hours to see us) and my mom and brother went with me to the doctor. The weird thing was right when I got in the car I felt a ton better and the whole way to the doctor I never felt any pain and never got sick. Then we got to the doctor and I told him the whole story. He checked everything out and said everything looked okay. He presribed me something for nausea in case it came back and said if it gets really bad again to go to the ER or come back to him so they can do some tests. He thought maybe it was just a stomach flu or something, but I know for sure that it was not a stomach flu. But I know it was because of the power of the priesthood that I got better so quickly. I am so grateful that Alex has that authority and that he honors his priesthood. Who knows...I probably would have ended up in the hospital if it weren't for those blessings. I am so grateful that I have this gospel in my life. It has blessed us in so many ways. :)

The Red Eye Job

Did I mention I work NIGHTS at the hospital? Yeah, it took a lot of getting used to. The first month or so I was really fighting staying awake at about 4 or 5 in the morning. I've been working here for about 5 months now so I'm pretty used to it. I really like my job most of the time. Of course I hate leaving in the evenings because I feel like I'm missing out on everything that's going on (and I do miss out a lot), but I know it's just something I have to do and it will pay off in the long run. I am going to nursing school hopefully next spring, but once I'm finished with that I just want to work maybe a couple times a month to keep up my license and be a stay-at-home mom :) I will feel a lot better once Alex and I have our schooling behind us. I'm one of those people who is always trying to plan my life and I don't realize a lot of times that life is what I'm doing right now. I know it's good to plan for the future, but it's also good to live in the moment and realize what you have right now. And what I have right now is amazing :)

Nothin like a good book

So I have decided to start reading books again for the fun of it. I love reading, but I always feel like I don't have time for it. Two authors I remember I liked reading in high school are Lois Duncan and Jude Deveraux. I also am interested in reading The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. I've never read them before and I heard that they're really good. So anyone have any suggestions of other authors or books that are "must reads"? :) Comment and let me know! Thanks

There's a first for everything :)

Ok so I decided to start blogging because there is just too much that happens in my life that I don't write down. I think blogging is kind of like a fun journal...that you share with everyone. Just to warn you, this blog is going to be longer than normal because I have to catch up on everything that has happened in the past year! Me and my husband, Alex, have been married for 9 1/2 months now. It has gone by so fast and I can't believe our one year anniversary is coming up! We have had a pretty crazy first year with jobs, moving, church callings, school, and just life! We have moved 3 times in the past 9 months. First we lived in Vidor, Texas which is where Alex grew up. Alex did scaffolding full time at an oil company while I took some classes at Lamar University. Then we decided (very spur of the moment as usual) that we should move so that Alex could start school at Lone Star college. Well of course we did not have a place to stay and the fall semester was starting soon so we decided to move in with my parents until I could find a job and an apartment. I did not expect it to take me so long to find a job, but it took me a month. Finally I found a really good job at a hospital in The Woodlands and we found an apartment in Tomball really close to where we were going to school. So Alex started taking classes and I was working and taking a class. I have really loved being closer to my family, but we both really miss Alex's family too. This semester I had to take microbiology and Alex finally decided what he was going to do which is mechanical drafting. I'm so glad it is only a two year degree and he will be done soon! He also recently got a job at Papa John's pizza delivering pizzas. Everytime I get into my car now it smells like pizza! Torture! I think Alex has eaten more pizza this past week than he has in his whole life! As for me, my job is going really good. I love the nurses and other PCAs (Patient Care Assistant..that's what I am) that I work with. This job has also helped me get more used to the whole nursing environment and I haven't changed my mind...I still want to be a nurse. :) I can say that I have seen some interesting things though. I have grown so much in the past 9 months just from life experience. I can tell you one thing that will force you to grow up is marriage. Marriage can be hard... and it will be hard. But it is so worth it when you find that person. I am so grateful for Alex and all that he does for me and is for me. I look up to him so much and I love being around him. Well I guess that's it for now... I promise the next ones won't be this long :)
